Case Study: Candles for the Royals

Candles for the Royals

As a candle brand that also makes private label candles, we were tasked to make unique candles that are probably not very common to find, and everything had to be done from scratch, including the jar. This is the case study of how we made 15 ultra-luxurious candles for a Royal family in Abu Dhabi for a 2025 New Year event.

Fifteen Luxury Candles

The job was to make fifteen invitation cards with a unique opening mechanism and, fifteen candles poured into a black steel jar and infused with elegant scents that resemble the Emirates, hints of Oud, Patchouli, and Amber.

Elegant Black and White Logo

Then, precious crystals had to be imbued inside the candles, and then placed inside a luxurious box, ready to be unwrapped for as a New Year invitation gift.

The minimalist square logo elegantly features the Arabic words  “black” and “white” in a clean, balanced design,
capturing the renewed beauty of contrast between black and white.

The Problem

Apart from the low quantity which made the order expensive since it included custom-made jars and boxes; the jar was made from black steel, and a glass insert was not allowed to be used. This means the candles will most likely melt fast as the steel has great heat retention. The problem is obvious, candles will melt fast, resulting in a bad lighting experience.

Our job was to make sure this didn’t happen, and the approach that we took was not too trivial but had to be done for such a project. Not only that, but invitation cards that were extremely tough to make, had to be done three days after we had received the order, and the candles had to follow five days after that, so, our deadline was pretty tight.

The Solution

We usually put our cotton wicks in our candles in a way where we get the best of both worlds, a beautiful melt pool, along with an amazing scent throw. For this project, we had to move away from our approach.

We tested multiple wicks, and we actually used wicks that were smaller than what the jar requires and allowed the candle to get a full melt pool only after the second or third burn cycle. This way, the wax will still melt all the way, and the steel jar won’t get too hot to touch after being lit for so long.

This resulted in a long-lasting candle, that also smells amazing when and without being lit.

The packaging & Invitation

The packaging includes the following items:

  • A black envelope
  • An invitation card with a unique opening mechanism
  • A wooden hard box engulfed with beautiful white crystal color, with the print made in golden foil, and a nice black foam cushion for the candle to rest on.

The invitation cards featured a stunning and functional circle with silver foiling in the shape of a chandelier to resemble a luxurious and festive New Year. With that, a message of hope for the upcoming year, engulfed in a silky black envelope and sealed with a stamp that has the same chandelier design on the invitation card.

As far as the candle box was concerned, it was made using the finest wood material, wrapped with crystal white paper to leave a beautiful shiny finish. From the inside, was a black foam that held the candle jar perfectly, and from the outside, there was a golden foil print of the symbol and chandelier.

The candle Jars

Welded right here in Dubai, the black steel jars weigh one kilogram, and with the wax inside them, a whopping two and a half kilograms per candle jar. Each jar is carefully crafted as quantities were limited to what was supposed to be handed over. On every jar, lies our world-class coconut and soy wax, infused with the highest quality oils that resemble the sense of the Emirates.

On top, lies four crystals, two obsidian, and two clear quartz, all fall together, to create a beautiful masterpiece that is to be gifted to friends and family, for a special New year event.
